From Playa del Carmen, we can see the Island of Cozumel on the horizon. It lies approximately 14 kms away from us. Cozumel is the largest island in Mexico and offers great diving. Jacques Cousteau declared the island of Cozumel one of the top diving destinations in the world.

Although Cozumel's diving is great, you are better off choosing Playa del Carmen as your home away from home for the duration of your stay. Playa del Carmen offers easy access to beautiful beaches and Cenotes (two things that Cozumel is seriously lacking and I am sure you would not want to miss on your Carribean vacation). Besides great diving, beautiful beaches and numerous Cenotes, Playa del Carmen offers easy access to Maya ruins and numerous activities for divers on their day or afternoon off from diving.

Cozumel's diving is however definitely worth a day trip, which can easily be arranged with Nomad Divers..
